Strolling the strand in the blue hour,
watching the end of the day,
your arm around me, the lavender sea,
the sun slipping softly away

Crossing the sand to the city,
into the crowds and the night,
the Moon rising high in a black summer sky,
clowning and laughing together in Her light

They say past your prime
is far past the time for romances,
that long love that’s lost
is love that will never return,
but twice in July! Two rises!
Two second chances,
sous la belle lune bleue

Some see the moon as a pale stone,
merciless, drifting in space,
drawing lost souls with the tides to Her fold,
a tomb for a failed human race

But I know the Moon as a sister,
who gives rise to brotherly love—
The magic of night blooms in Her light
as she shines upon us the golden Sun above

There’s no passing prime,
now is the time for romancing
Long love that’s lost
is love that longs to return
Twice in July! Two rises!
We should be dancing
sous la belle lune bleue
